Welcome to the British Institute of Canine Science! We are very excited to launch this exciting project and finally address some issues surrounding canine science, academia and research. This blog post is here to serve as an outline as to what we wish to do, how we wish to do it and what is coming in the near future.
We founded the British Institute of Canine Science to commit to further understanding of our dogs. Our extremely small research team have been involved professionally with dogs for many years and have committed their careers to improving the relationship between humans and dogs and this is precisely the plan moving forwards within the institution.

Think of us as a coin with two sides. The first side of the coin is to produce robust, truthful and accurate canine research within areas that are both intriguing to us and poignant to our developmental understanding of dogs. We aim to conduct this research with proper consideration and complete methodology because so many canine based academic research is lacking in quality. An example of this would be a study collecting the valuable data via the method of asking owners their opinion on a topic. This (in our opinion) is an unacceptable scientific method and often is nothing short of ignored in published academic writing.
The second side of the coin is our goal to make academic canine research accessible to the public. We understand that reading academic findings and scientific studies can be extremely difficult and overwhelming. Each week we take a poignant study from the industry and break it down for our members, covering method, results and findings and of course discussing the real life application of the study. We know ourselves that reading an academic paper on a subject that you do not have a substantial amount of knowledge on can be very daunting and our aim is to make these all important findings easy to access and understand for everybody, not just the researchers.
Behind the research, the jargon, the data collection and analysis, we are dog lovers just like you are, and we aim to not only share the all important science, but also the human love of dogs, our stories, our successes, failures and everything in between.
If you wish to become a member of the British Institute of Canine Science you will immediately receive all the perks of your membership and you can get stuck in to our work from today! We are working relentlessly to bring as much value as possible and we hope to see you there.
We can't wait to get this show on the road and we hope you wish to support us on this never ending journey!
